Season One DVD Two – The Jersey Devil
The X-Files Season One Disc Two
The Jersey Devil
This episode starts with one of those scenes shot to look like it happened in the 1940’s.
A family car is stuck with a flat tire outside of Atlantic City.
At this point the man decides it would be faster to ask his wife to hold the flashlight while he changes the tire. Just as he asks the wife to hold it he is dragged off by something unseen. We last see his legs as he is dragged deeper into the woods, the wife screaming for him.
The next scene in the teaser is the police searching the woods with dogs in an effort to find him.
They find his body and it appears that something has eaten at least one of his limbs.
After the titles, we find Mulder and Scully present day at the FBI.
Scully shows Mulder a report of a homeless man whose body was found with evidence of cannibalism.
The body has definitely been cannibalized.
While at the morgue, the local police chief makes it clear that he does not want any FBI involvement in the case.
During the birthday party, Scully is introduced to a divorced man by a friend.
She dates him later in the episode. There is a question of whether Scully is wishing for a more normal life with marriage and children or working with Mulder.
Meanwhile, Mulder meets the local park ranger who has a few stories to tell.
Mulder decides to spend the night among the homeless in an attempt to spot the creature that is supposed to come into the city at night looking for food in the garbage.
Not a bad X-Files episode.
The actor that played the park ranger seemed very interesting to me. I am not sure why. It almost seemed that he had false teeth or something that made it odd when he talked. It just made his character more interesting, even though he seems to be used to prop up the plot.
