The X-Files Season One Disc Two

Shadows

A secretary is packing someone’s office belongings into a box.

The photographs on the wall show a man posed with various top government officials (like former President Clinton). She is nearly in tears.

A coworker comes in to give her a paycheck. From their conversation we learn that the secretary’s boss had committed suicide. The coworker tells the secretary to go home.

As she leaves, a quote from Benjamin Frankin, “One To-day is Worth Two To-morrows,” suddenly moves across the desk behind her back.

We see her at an ATM machine in the next scene.

As she is depositing her check she is suddenly grabbed by two men. We hear her scream.

The teaser finishes in the nearby alley two hours later.

An apparently homeless couple are looking for a place to spend the night. As they start to climb the fire escape to climb in an open window, the bodies of the two men fall down nearly on top of them. They run off into the night screaming.

After the credits, we find Mulder and Scully have been called into a morgue at a late hour to examine the bodies.

They have been called in because of their experience with the X-files. The corpses are still warm, but the time of death was several hours earlier. The bodies also still seem to have postmortem reflexes.

To make thing even more odd, they people who have asked them to examine the bodies will not give them much information about the bodies. They also will not admit to the agency they work for.

The throats of the men appear to have been crushed from the inside.

Despite claiming to have no idea how the men died, Mulder has a theory, psychokinesis.

The first mystery to be solved is if it is the secretary that is doing this, or something or someone else.

The next mystery is the death of the secretary’s boss. Did he commit suicide or was he murdered?

“I think they are already in full denial.”

This episode of the X-Files is very typical of a non-conspiracy episode, yet it there is an unknown government agency involved.
