Beyond The Sea

Scully’s family has been visiting her.

She says good bye to them. Her father asks her about work.

Scully awakens in the night.

Her father is sitting in a chair across the room. She cannot hear what he says to her. As the phone rings, she looks away, when she looks back up to him, he is gone.

Scully’s mother is on the phone. Her father has just died of a massive coronary within the hour. 

After the teaser, a couple are making out in a car.

What appears to be a policeman asks them to get out of the car. By the time they realize he is not a policeman, it is too late.

When Scully comes in to work., Mulder is studying the kidnapping of the couple.

Their case resembles a case from a year earlier, on the same date. If it is the same killer, they have just five days to find the couple before they are killed.

An inmate, Luther Lee Boggs, that is on death row claims to have information on the kidnapping.

He claims to have the information through psychic transmissions. Mulder is the one that got him put on death row. He wants a deal for his information. Mulder does not believe him.

Scully goes to her father’s funeral. The music “Somewhere Beyond the Sea” is played for the funeral. His ashes are scattered on the sea. Scully asks her mother if her father was disappointed with her choice to get out of medicine. This is a question that has been bothering her a long time.

Mulder and Scully visit Boggs in prison.

Mulder tricks Boggs with and old shirt that has nothing to do with the case. Boggs puts on a good show, apparently falling for the trick. He gives a description of where he  thinks the couple might be. Mulder then tells him about the trick. As Scully leaves, Boggs starts to sing “Somewhere Beyond the Sea.” Scully sees her father in the chair Boggs is sitting in. She is now not sure Boggs is a fake.

On the way back to the hotel, Scully sees signs Boggs described and finds a place the couple had been taken to. However, they have been moved before she found the spot.

Is Boggs real or is he working with the kidnapper?
